A little over a year ago, Janine had a crazy dream that we really should renovate the inside of Moon Lok Kindergarten and give the children a place worthy of our name - Moon Lok or “Full of Happiness.” This was a crazy dream because we had no money to do this. The kindergarten is faced with a shrinking pool of children so we did not have any extra money we could spend for renovations. How can you do something when you don't have money to pay for it?

Sometimes you step out on faith. The kindergarten had not been updated for many years. Everyone liked the idea of updating the facility. But no-one knew how to do it. Janine suggested we figure out how much it would cost to renovate each classroom and then see if a church or group would donate the funds needed to make it happen. Janine and I figured we could do most of the actual work ourselves or with volunteers, so all we really needed was the money to buy materials. It turned out that US$2000 would complete a room and provide the following.

1. New Paint - walls, ceiling fans, window trim, desks and chairs.

2. Wallpaper border around the room.

3. New teacher table.

4. New cabinets and bookshelves.

5. New mini blinds.

6. New aprons for each teacher in the room.

7. New casual uniform for teachers - for PE days.

FBC Kansas City, Missouri was the first church to give a room. Then Homantin Swatow Baptist Church gave a room. Then Kowloon City Swatow Baptist Church, then the chairman of our board gave a room and finally Kowloon City Swatow Baptist gave the final room. Other churches and individuals have given to Moon Lok and we have raised US $10,500. 85% of the renovation work has been completed. It is amazing how God has provided over the past year.

The kindergarten recently celebrated its 40th Anniversary. It was so exciting to be able to share what God has provided with all the people who attended the celebration. We have been touched by the interest so many have taken in this project over the past year. God is GOOD!!
