APRIL 2ND was a big day for us. After almost 6 years of work, the Mission, Kowloon City Swatow Baptist Church and Homantin Swatow Baptist Church celebrated the formation of a new local non-profit social and educational community service agency - ABMSBC. For the past 50 years the mission has been working with local churches to provide these services. Initially all of these services grew out of the church’s desire to care for needy members of the community. Over the years the services have changed and the mission’s name was used to officially hold the services. Church members became less involved and the services developed on their own. This was not the intention of the services in the past. Over the past 6 years John has been working with the Board and the churches to see if there was a way to restore the original intention and purpose of these programs. After much conversation and God’s activity we have finally returned the services to their proper home. The Mission continues as a partner and John continues as the director but the board and the agency is now completely in the hands of the two founding churches. This also fits more closely with our mission philosophy and practice. Rev. Ben Chan was in Hong Kong to represent International Ministries in the handing over service. God has blessed this work over the years and we look forward to God’s leadership in the years to come!
