The Season of Giving... One of the ministries we support is Moon Lok Kindergarten. American Baptist Missionaries have been helping manage the kindergarten since it started in 1965. Over the years the kindergarten has taught many students, run various social service programs and even began the Tsuen Wan Swatow Baptist Church. Since 1965, the kindergarten has managed to support itself while offering low school fees for the needy members of the community. However over the past few years, Hong Kong's birth rate has been declining. All kindergartens now face a shrinking number of young children. In addition, the Government has recently introduced changes to the educational system. These changes require all schools to hire more teachers. This has placed a severe financial strain on the kindergarten. We currently are working on new ways to generate income so we can remain open and assist the needy children in this community. Unfortunately the difficulty in funding means we have very limited resources to care for and repair our kindergarten's facilities. Yet, we have an older facility that requires constant upkeep. Recently we were talking with some church members from Sha Tin Swatow Baptist Church about the need to repair the front of the school stage. We were wondering if they knew of someone who could do the work at a discounted price. Without hesitation they said they would fix it. A few weeks later, six church members spent a long afternoon repairing, cleaning and painting the front of the stage. They did a great job. We know the people who gave their time and we know they are all very busy. It was a very generous gift to the kindergarten. They had no real connection with this kindergarten but they heard of the need and gave their time to meet this need. We appreciate this timely gift in this ́season of giving. Please pray for the teachers and students at Moon Lok Kindergarten. Pray that we will find new ways to offer services and create new programs in the community. Pray that we will be able to continue to offer a quality program to the needy in our community. | ||
