Greetings from the SARS-free Hong Kong Gravley's

item3 It has been too long since we last wrote but we decided you might be wondering about us with all the SARS news. It has been a very interesting experience. Fortunately Janine and Katelyn were able to leave Hong Kong in early April and John left three weeks later. We planned to be in the States in May for John's Graduation, so we just started our trip a little early. :

We are now back in Hong Kong hoping this coming year goes much better than last year. Last year we returned to Hong Kong then had to return to the States two weeks later because Janine's dad died suddenly. It is such a blessing that he just died in his sleep, but it has been hard on us survivors. Much of our time this past year has been working through the grieving process. Your prayers have been such a blessing!!

Our reason for the latest trip to the States was for John's Graduation. He is now Dr. John Gravley, even though Janine says he's not really any smarter!

Katelyn is busy dancing and putting on dresses that twirl! When Janine wanted her to wear pants she informed her she was not a boy! HA! Her southern Aunts call her Miss Priss and that is quite fitting! Of course if you say that with a southern accent it really sounds much cuter!

Janine is busy entertaining Katelyn and that can be a challenge. This apartment gets quite small some days. (During late March and April because of SARS no-one would come over and play and we couldn't really go out. Not so easy with a 3 year old!) Katelyn loves going out and has some friends she likes to play with.

We are the only ABC missionaries in Hong Kong right now so we are pretty busy keeping contact with our various partners. One of our partners is Haven of Hope Hospital. In response to SARS, American Baptist's “One Great Hour of Sharing” funds were used to help them buy protective suits for their staff and help buy masks and alcohol rubs for families of patients. This is one tangible way your support went to help in the fight against SARS.

Sorry we haven't written sooner! We do want you to know we appreciate your support very much! Please pray for Hong Kong.
